Cancun is the port of entry for Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Cozumel , Isla Mujeres, Chichen Itza, Xcaret, Holbox, etc . It is very well connected to most cities in the continent and Europe.Distances from Cancun : Xcaret ecopark and Playa del Carmen are only 40 minutes far. Tulum and Xelha are 1 1/2 hr. away. Chichen Itza is 2 hrs from Cancun. Akumal is 1 1/2 hours far. Isla Mujeres is easily reached by passager boat from Puerto Juarez ( 10 min from Cancun ), only 15 min voyage.
Cancun weather is similar to Florida weather, nice in the autumn,winter and spring, hot and humid during the summer .

boulevard. Av. Bonampak is the first Av coming into Cancun from the hotel zone.

Playa del Carmen pictures, Playa del Carmen weather, distances from Playa del Carmen
Playa del Carmen is a small village that used to be a fishermans town, that has long disappeard. It is a busy small village with nice crowded beaches and a main Av , 6 blocks long where most restaurants and boutiques stand one besides the other. The atmosphere of the town is relaxed and casual.
From Playa del Carmen, 45 min to Tulum, 45 min boat ride to Cozumel , one hour to Isla Mujeres, 3 hrs to Chichen Itza, 10 min to Xcaret.

Tulum
Tulum is now better known as a beach destination than its original archeological relevance. The archeological site is small but its location is unique for an archological site.Situated on top of a hill overlooking the ocean offers a spectacular view of the Mexican Caribbean Sea. In 'Tulum village there are dozens of guest houses mainly aimed to backpackers. The ocean front hotels are low rise and rustic but quite expensive for rustic beach acc. Nudity is pretty normal in Tulum's beaches.
3 hrs to Chichen Itza, 45 min min to Xcaret, 15 min to Akumal, 10min to Xelha.

COZUMEL
Cozumel is the oldest of the Mexican Caribbean Resorts, it was and still is a divers destination. Few beaches in Cozumel since it is a rock island ( part of the reef) It is the port of entry for most cruises coming through . Passangers are usually taken across to Playa del Carmen and then bused to Tulum.
15 min from Cancun by plane or 45 min from Playa del Carmen by boat .
Weather is mostly windy in the winter, fresh in spring , hot and humid during the summer .

Xcaret eco park
Xcaret is a beautiful manmade eco park. Tidy and with lots of entertainment Nice Acuarium, swim with dolphins, shows, manmade tunnel water way that gives the idea of an underground river.
3 hrs to Chichen Itza, 45 min min to Tulum and Akumal, 10min to Playa del Carmen.
Xelha still offers the best snorkeling in the area. Easily reached from Cancun, there are many tours that offer a como pack of Tulum and Xelha. Xcaret and Xelha weather, nice in the autumn,winter and spring, hot and humid and rainy during the summer .

CHICHEN ITZA
Chichen Itza is THE archeological site in the region. There is old Chichen Itza which is the ancient Maya buildings and New Chichen Itza which is the new piramid buildings that were built on top of the ancient Maya buildings. One may enter the big piramid to view the old construction inside with its famous maya stelle.
Chichen Itza is 2:30 hrs from Cancun , easily reached by tour, public transportation, federal highway or toll highway. Same distance from Merida.
